Securing large, open areas is challenging. Traditional surveillance systems rely on sensors with narrow coverage that only protect along a perimeter but leave large areas within the site blind, giving intruders the chance to hide and evade detection.
These systems usually give little to no early warning of intrusions, alarming only when a breach occurs. Wide area surveillance sensors must work reliable in all-weather conditions with a low false alarm rate, which rules-out many technologies. Lidar performs poorly when it rains leading to dramatically reduced detection range. Thermal cameras have a very narrow field of view making them unsuitable for observing wide areas. Passive infrared sensors have very limited range or very narrow coverage, neither of which suit wide area surveillance. Fixed cameras can be used but costs are very high due to the large number of cameras that are required, plus the illumination must be very good for camera analytics to give an acceptable false alarm rate, further adding to the installation and operating cost.
Our solution: Scan-360
Our Scan-360 wide area surveillance radar detects intruders over large areas in all weathers and light levels. The Scan-360 uses advanced radar technology to identify and track intruders with full 360-degree coverage and ranges of up to 200 metres, resulting in coverage of over 125,000 square metres per radar. When a target is detected, the radar will automatically zoom any nearby cameras onto the intruder and send an alert over the Ethernet connection. The Scan-360 is a true all-weather Wide Area Detection System (WADS) that is unaffected by ambient light, working in any light level, ranging from total darkness to blinding bright light.
Key benefits

Reliable intruder detection
Advance warning of threats is possible by detecting and monitoring outside the perimeter, maximising the time to react to suspicious behaviour before any intrusion is attempted. Different alarm priorities can be assigned to different areas, ranging from no-alarm to high-priority. The surveillance radar tracks intruders leaving them with no place to hide should they cross into the protected area.

High confidence detection
Multiple targets can be detected and tracked both on land and over water. High detection probability and low false alarm rates are achieved by using a sophisticated modulation arrangement combined with propriety software algorithms that intelligently monitor and adapt as the environment changes. This gives the Scan-360 a true all-weather capability.

Complete 360 degree coverage: no blind spots
The Scan-360 security radar has a full 360-degree coverage with no blind spots. A single radar protects a radius of 200 metres and there is no practical limit to the number that can operate on the same site because they all incorporate automatic mutual interference suppression and avoidance. Thus, there is no practical limit to the size of the protected area when multiple radars are used.

Integrated camera control
Slew-to-cue camera control is built-in to Scan-360. This provides automatic camera control to zoom onto intruders for visual identification and to record footage for evidence. The cameras can be local to each radar, or in separate locations, in which case the Scan-360 will select the best camera for every intruder.

Quick to install, straightforward to configure
The Scan-360 is designed for quick and easy installation. Each unit is completely self-contained and requires only a single Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) cable connection. Configuration is done via a standard web browser using an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) with map-based detection zone setup. The system learns from its environment and compensates automatically, avoiding endless adjustments or tuning.

System integration
The radar works seamlessly with third-party equipment, including cameras, alarms and video management systems (VMS) over Ethernet, allowing full integration with existing security infrastructure using standard interfaces.
