Security Radars

Super-Beam

The Ogier Electronics Super-Beam radars are used to detect intruders crossing a narrow perimeter of up to 400 metres length with very high detection probability. When the narrow detection zone is breached, the precise location of the intrusion is sent over the Ethernet network and nearby cameras are zoomed automatically to point at the intruder for visual assessment. This unique radar Perimeter Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) has exceptional detection performance, especially when installed in close proximity to physical barriers and fences where other scanning radars may struggle to perform well.

  • All weather operation
  • Narrow “beam-break” detection area
  • 400 metres detection range
  • Detects humans and vehicles
  • Reports geo-position of intruder
  • Typically mounted at 1 metre height.
  • Power over Ethernet (PoE)
  • Slew-to-cue ONVIF CCTV camera control
  • Integration with Video Management Systems (VMS)
  • Adapts to environmental changes minimising nuisance alarms
  • Unique low-power variant.
  • No hidden costs

A narrow beam-break detection field is formed between the two Super-Beam radar heads when they face toward each other. This bistatic “microwave fence” arrangement has a much lowest false alarm rate than systems that consist of a single (monostatic) radar since the detection principles are quite different. The Super-Beam uses two measurements; one to detect the beam-break and another to measure the range to the target. Detection probability is extremely high because the radars continually stare across the narrow detection zone so there is no chance of missing an intruder.

Bistatic Super-Beam radars form a narrow detection zone with high accuracy and low false alarms using continuous dual-beam monitoring to detect the precise location of intruders.

For ranges of up to 200 metresSuper-Beam 200This replaces one of the powered radar heads with an un-powered beacon to simplify installation and reduce costs.
For ranges of up to 400 metresSuper-Beam 400This uses two identical powered radar heads, one at each end of the detection zone.

For applications covering a narrow area where the equipment must be mounted substantially higher than 1 metre please contact us for alternative solutions.

Super-Beam Radar

Ogier Electronics’s radar technology operates in the license-exempt 24GHz frequency band. This results in excellent detection characteristics and good immunity to interference from air traffic control, marine radar systems, microwave ovens, wireless links and WiFi, all of which typically operate at other frequencies.
